Our neighborhood was constructed in 1996 using Weyerhaeuser brand "Old Mill Lap" hardboard siding.

To prevent this siding product from failing it is important to keep out moisture by ensuring it stays adequately painted, the seams caulked and nail or screw holes sealed. Material that holds moisture such as dirt and bark should not be allowed to remain in contact with the siding.
Other Products
Some homeowners have already replaced their hardboard siding after obtaining Association approval. Of the several products submitted for approval up to this point the Association has approved two alternate products. This is not an endorsement of these products but rather indicates that these products have an appearance similar to existing hardboard siding in texture, profile and reveal. Each of these products was installed with rough wood trim similar to the original trim.
